Mohammad Hafeez scored his maiden double-century

Mohammad Hafeez came to the fore for Pakistan with an unbeaten double-century to take it to 227 for 1 on the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna. Pakistan was trailing Bangladesh by 105 runs, having bowled the host out for 332 earlier on Wednesday. Mohammad Hafeez put on 50 runs for the opening wicket with Sami Aslam, the debutant left-hand batsman, before Azhar Ali joined Hafeez for an unbeaten 2nd-wicket stand that has so far yielded 177 runs. It was the 8th  Test century for Hafeez, who struck 12 boundaries and two sixes, and the third in his last four innings.
Bangladesh found success in the 12th over.  The left-arm spinner Taijul Islam tossed one up down the leg side and Aslam ended up getting a glove and Mushfiqur Rahim took a sharp catch. Than Bangladesh was made to toil hard with no reward. Rahim dropped two catches of Azhar Ali. Bangladesh also suffered when a bowl had to leave the field due to a bruised finger after tea. Then Imrul Kayes kept wickets in his absence.
The day began with Pakistan's bowlers making some quick strikes to bowl out Bangladesh, who resumed on 236- 4, after lunch. Four wickets fell in the 1st  session, Yasir Shah, the legspinner, picking two of them. He finished with 3 for 86 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar 62 runs sixth-wicket stand. Yasir shah and  Wahab Riaz picked up three wickets each, Hafeez and Zulfiqar took two apiece.
